Biography
Philip Guya, known simply as Guya, is a competitive bodybuilder and entrepreneur based in Nairobi. A rare leap-year baby born on February 29, 1992, he holds both a BSc and MSc in Civil Engineering from Coventry University. Growing up, Guya was heavily involved in sports, playing basketball throughout university with ambitions of reaching the NBA, and even spending a year as a dual athlete in basketball and American Football. Driven by a desire to 'be faster, stronger and jump higher,' his rigorous gym routines eventually led him to pursue an exceptional physique. He shifted his focus entirely to bodybuilding in 2018 and is currently coached by his uncle and friend, Rashid Saikwa. In competitions, Guya focuses on Classic Physique and Open Bodybuilding, competing in both locally while preparing for an international Classic Physique debut in 2026, with plans to step on stage in Dubai or Europe. Outside of competing, he works with his family in the construction industry and is an online fitness coach.
