Course Details

The race starts and finishes in Machakos Town, looping through the characteristic rolling hills of Machakos County. The Elite/Open category is the harder day - Day 1 is the longer stage at 80km, with Day 2 a slightly shorter 70km, but both carry 1,500m of elevation each. The Recreational and U19 routes are more accessible at 43km and 45km, with 1,000m and 1,300m of climbing respectively. Expect mix of tarmac roads and punchy Machakos climbs. A road or gravel bike is appropriate.

Getting There

Machakos Town is approximately 65km southeast of Nairobi via the A109 Mombasa Road, turning off at Athi River toward Machakos. Drive time from Nairobi is around 1 to 1.5 hours. Machakos is the county capital and easily accessible from Nairobi - parking is available in and around the town centre.
