Eldoret sits at 2,100m above sea level. Runners travelling from lower elevations should arrive a few days early to acclimatise, and should expect their pace to be slower than at sea level.

What is the Eldoret City Marathon route map?

The race begins near Sogomo Shopping centre at the University of Eldoret, heading south along Kitale-Cherengani Road and later Iten Road past Kimumu and Hawaii Junction before entering the CBD. This 42-kilometer route covers a comprehensive circuit through the Raiply and Mwanzo estates to the west, Kapsoya and the RVTTI grounds to the east, and Elgon View and Nandi Road to the south. Notable landmarks along the path include Kipchoge Keino Stadium, Rupa Mall, and Zion Mall, with the final stretch leading to the finishing point near Eldoret Fire Station. To facilitate the event, major thoroughfares including Uganda, Nandi, and Kisumu roads are closed to all traffic from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
