Is there really no registration fee?

Correct - registration is completely free. Organisers ask that people register only if they are committed to participating, since the Foundation's medical initiatives rely on optional donations and community support rather than entry fees.

What should I bring on the day?

Remember to carry your National ID or Passport during the day of the run.

How does the blood donation drive work?

This year's Run for Her incorporates the Roaming Blood Donation Initiative, turning the mass gathering into an opportunity to recruit donors and collect blood on-site, helping address Kenya's significant annual blood supply deficit.

Can I support the cause without running?

Yes. Even though registration is free, you can make an optional donation toward one or more of the Foundation's core causes: the Roaming Blood Donation Initiative, PPH School, PPH Conference, PPH Research and Data Ecosystems, the Maternal & Neonatal Hackathon, or EndPPH Awareness & Advocacy.

How has the event grown since it started?

The first edition in 2024 drew about 1,200 participants. The second edition grew dramatically to more than 20,000 participants across Nairobi and six other Kenyan counties, plus entrants from six other Sub-Saharan African countries. The 2026 edition is expected to reach over 20 Kenyan counties and 15-20 African countries.

Is the 10km distance mandatory?

10km is the standard distance for the day, but the organisers have confirmed participants are not strictly restricted to it - walk, jog, or run whatever distance you're comfortable with.

Postpartum haemorrhage contributes to up to 70% of maternal deaths in Sub-Saharan Africa. This year's Run for Her doubles as a Roaming Blood Donation drive, addressing Kenya's roughly 200,000-unit annual blood supply deficit, alongside supporting PPH School (healthcare worker training), a PPH Conference, PPH research and data ecosystems, and a Maternal & Neonatal Hackathon developing practical solutions to maternal and newborn health challenges.

Course Details

The run takes place at Ulinzi Sports Grounds along Langata Road, Nairobi, running from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Participants are asked to carry a National ID or Passport on the day.

Getting There

Ulinzi Sports Grounds is on Langata Road, approximately 8.5km from Nairobi CBD, around 22 minutes via Langata Road. From the CBD, head toward Moi Avenue, take the roundabout onto Haile Selassie Avenue, then Uhuru Highway/A104, before joining Langata Road and continuing to the venue near Nyayo Sports Complex.

🌍Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) - excessive bleeding after childbirth - contributes to up to 70% of maternal deaths in Sub-Saharan Africa.

🌍Kenya collects roughly 200,000 to 250,000 units of blood annually, against a need that leaves a deficit of around 200,000 units, according to the Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority (KTTA).

🌍The first Run for Her in 2024 attracted about 1,200 participants; the second edition drew more than 20,000 participants across Nairobi and six other counties, plus participants from six other Sub-Saharan African countries.

🌍During a pilot conducted across six counties, 12 blood-collection sites gathered 875 units of safe blood within a ten-day period.

🌍The Foundation is developing a digital donor registry aimed at making blood donation a continuous process rather than an occasional campaign.

🌍Beyond the run, the Foundation runs a PPH School exploring virtual reality, augmented reality, gamification, and AI to improve healthcare worker training, and a Maternal-Neonatal Hackathon bringing together medicine, nursing, engineering, social sciences, and business students to develop solutions to maternal and newborn health challenges.
