What are the age requirements to participate?

Participants 18 and over can join any adult category without restriction. 17-year-olds may participate independently in a relay with written parental or guardian consent. Those aged 14-16 may run a 12.5km section of the 4-person relay only alongside a parent or legal guardian, with written consent. Under-14s are not eligible for adult categories and should register for the Kids 3km Fun Run instead.

Is registration refundable?

No, all entry fees are non-refundable. If you are unable to participate, you may transfer your slot to someone else up to 2 weeks before the event, recouping payment directly with that person on individual terms. After that date, registrations can no longer be switched.

How many spots are available?

Registration is limited to 350 adult participants. It closes on 1st November 2026 or once all 350 spots are filled, whichever happens first.

What do I need to register a team?

For team registrations, you will need to provide the legal name, ID type and number, shirt size, and meal preference for each team member. You must also have permission to accept the terms and conditions on behalf of each team member.

Is there a fee on top of the listed price?

Yes, all fees are subject to a 3.5% payment processing surcharge.

Where does the money raised go?

The UltraMARAthon is an entirely charitable event. All profit goes toward conservation and community development initiatives in the Maasai Mara region.

What is the conservancy waiver?

All participants must sign a waiver and release of liability form acknowledging they are visiting or staying in one of four private wildlife conservancies (Enonkishu, Lemek, Mara North, or Ol Chorro), each owned and operated by a separate conservancy company.

Course Details

All adult categories cover the same iconic 50km route across the Maasai Mara; the difference between categories is how many runners share the distance, either solo, as a 2-person relay (25km each), or a 4-person relay (12.5km each). The Kids Fun Run covers a separate 3km route designed for younger runners. Race HQ is at Mara North/Lemek Conservancy.

Getting There

Mara North Conservancy is in Aitong, Narok County, approximately 243km from Nairobi CBD via the B3 and C13, around 5 hours 27 minutes by car including toll roads. From the CBD, take Uhuru Highway onto the Nairobi Expressway (toll road), continue on the A104 through Mai Mahiu and Narok via the B3, then turn onto the C13 toward Aitong and Mara North Conservancy.
