Getting There
Mfangano Island is reached by boat from Mbita Point on Lake Victoria. Mbita is approximately 420km west of Nairobi via Kisumu, about a 6 to 7 hour drive. From Mbita, boats to Mfangano take around 45 minutes to 1 hour. Most participants travel the day before and stay overnight on the island or in Mbita.

Kaptagat Forest Marathon 2026: Full Results as Stephen Kimutai Kibet and Vivian Jerono Win 42km Titles
Full results from the inaugural Kaptagat Forest Marathon at Kaptarkok Primary School, part of the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme's 10th anniversary celebrations. Stephen Kimutai Kibet and Vivian Jerono won the men's and women's 42km titles, with James Kipkoech, Elius Chebor Kiptoo, Abraham Poghisho and Venenza Chebet also crowned champions in the shorter distances. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki attended as chief guest and flagged off the distribution of livelihood support to community beneficiaries.

Nairobi City Marathon 2026 Results: Kipkemboi and Kemuma Win as AI Robot Makes History
Enock Kipkemboi and Joy Kemuma won the men's and women's 42km titles at the fifth Nairobi City Marathon, each taking home Ksh 3.5 million. Brian Kogo claimed the half marathon men's crown in 1:00:55, while a humanoid AI robot named JayTron made history as the first of its kind to run a 5km road race in Africa.
