Event Highlights

Rooted in Kenyan street culture: 'Scramboooo' was childhood slang for flashy, expressive bike riding - Red Bull turned that culture of self-expression into a full competition
35 teams (105 riders) build custom bikes from scratch, then race them downhill in costume with an opening skit
Course is roughly 700 metres, based on the 2025 edition - mostly downhill
Track features are designed to riff on real Nairobi roads and landmarks (e.g. a seesaw nicknamed 'Museum Hill', potholes inspired by Waiyaki Way)
Judged by a five-person panel on bike/costume creativity, the opening skit, and how the bike holds up on course - no cycling pedigree required
Afterparty follows the race with live performances from various artists

Course Details

Based on the 2025 edition, the course runs approximately 700 metres and is predominantly downhill through Uhuru Park, built to riff on recognisable Nairobi roads and landmarks rather than a generic track. Each team has three members - a pusher, a rider, and a driver. Teams go through a concept-submission phase, then a build phase constructing their bike, designing costumes, and preparing an opening skit, before racing for time while trying to keep their creation intact.

Getting There

Uhuru Park is adjacent to Nairobi's CBD, on the opposite side of the expressway when crossing from Huduma Centre/GPO via Kenyatta Avenue. Easily walkable from the CBD; parking is limited given the central location.

Did You Know?

🌍The name 'Scramboooo' comes from Kenyan childhood slang for a flashy, expressive style of bike riding - the kind that made sure everyone on the street knew whose bike it was and who was riding it. Red Bull built the event around that existing culture of self-expression rather than importing it from abroad.
🌍The 2026 edition features 35 teams and 105 riders, selected through a concept-submission phase before entering a build phase for their bikes, costumes, and opening skits.
🌍A five-person judging panel scores creativity of the bikes and costumes, the opening skit performance, and how well the bike holds up on the course - professional cycling experience is not required or judged.
🌍Red Bull athlete Patrick Odongo, one of the event's judges, described it as a celebration of how Kenyans create, express themselves, and have fun - taking a familiar childhood act (building up a bike and showing off riding style) and giving it a proper stage.
🌍Uhuru Park is one of Nairobi's most iconic public green spaces, located right at the edge of the city centre.
🌍Red Bull Scramboo shares its DIY-contraption, skit, and judged-performance structure with Red Bull Stalen Ros in the Netherlands, where teams race customised bikes down an 80-metre course - though Scramboo's name and cultural framing are distinctly Kenyan rather than an import.
🌍Course length and layout are based on the 2025 edition rather than an official Red Bull spec sheet.
