What does my registration fee support?

All proceeds fund scholarships for Strathmore University undergraduate students. The university currently supports around 15% of undergraduates with financial aid and is working to raise that to 25%.

Is this event suitable for beginners?

Yes. Four distances are available - 2.5km, 5km, 10km, and 21km - catering for all fitness levels, from casual fun runners to more competitive athletes.

When does registration open?

Registration is open now via run.strathmore.edu. Ticket sales for Junior, Adult, and Group/Family tickets close on 20th August 2026 at 12:00 AM (Africa/Nairobi).

Is this the same as the VC Run?

Yes. The Strathmore Annual Run was formerly known as the Vice Chancellor's Run (VC Run). It was rebranded to reflect its growth beyond the university into a broader community and national event, while keeping the same mission of raising funds for student scholarships.

Is there a GPX file for the Strathmore Annual Run route?

Yes. You can download the official GPX file for the 2026 route using the Download GPX File button in the Course Details section above. The file is compatible with Garmin, Strava, Komoot, and most other GPS devices and running apps.

Course Details

The course starts at Strathmore University Sports Complex, with four distance options: 2.5km, 5km, 10km, and 21km. The university sits in the Madaraka area of Nairobi at approximately 1,700m above sea level, so expect the altitude to affect pace if you are arriving from lower elevations.

Getting There

Strathmore University is on Ole Sangale Link Road in the Madaraka area, approximately 5km south of Nairobi CBD. It is accessible by matatu from various parts of the city. Parking on campus is limited on race day so public transport or dropping off nearby is recommended.
