What's Included
Course Details
Start and finish at the Vipingo Ridge Pool Gardens. The 5.6km Adventure route climbs roughly 125-150m over rolling hills and is suited to families and newcomers (a walking option is also available). The 9.6km Rollercoaster route passes the dam with a climb of roughly 210-250m over undulating terrain. The 21.3km Ultimate Adventure has the steepest profile at 430m of total climb, running through a rollercoaster section before tranquil mango and eucalyptus forests; organisers recommend entrants be running at least twice a week beforehand given the elevation, heat, and distance. Course is marked with chalk, with checkpoint markings collected from runners at the finish for timing purposes. The event aims to be plastic-free, so runners are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles.
Getting There
Vipingo Ridge sits on the Mombasa-Malindi Highway in Kilifi County. From Mombasa, it's about 1 hour 15 minutes (37.2km) via the B8 and Vipingo Drive. From Nairobi, it's a long drive of around 9 hours 21 minutes (522km), mostly via Mombasa Road/the A104 and then the C107 and B8; flying into Mombasa and driving the shorter leg is the more common option for Nairobi-based participants.
